Among the items set for Cape Coral City Council consideration Monday is the city manager's contract.

Mayor Joe Coviello has placed, for discussion, an extension of the contract of City Manager John Szerlag, who has been on the job since April 2012. Szerlag has an annual salary of $173,035.20.

Council is set to consider an ordinance to put potential changes to the city charter up for referendum.

The Charter Review Commission presented recommendations Council in January, and any of those recommendations, as well as new ones created by the new CRC will need to be submitted to the Lee County Supervisor of Elections Office.

The deadline to submit ballot language for up to 10 items is Nov. 18 to be in time for the presidential primary elections to be held March 17, 2020.

The inclusion of one other item for the city primary election on Aug. 18, 2020 has an April 20, 2020 deadline, while one other item for the Nov. 3, 2020 ballot is due July 6, 2020. All deadlines are by 5 p.m. on their respective date.

Also, the Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Department will be receiving a public relations award to be presented by Director Kerry Runyon.

The city recently received the Public Relations Excellence Award from the Florida Recreation and Park Association (FRPA) for the city's Fun-Mobile recreation initiative.

Formerly a municipal van used to transport children, the Cape Coral Fun-Mobile was transformed into a "recreation center on wheels," offering free organized activities to promote outdoor play at parks and events throughout Cape Coral since Spring 2018.

By bringing recreation and information to the parks, the Fun-Mobile has helped increase public awareness of city's Parks and Recreation and their benefits.

Monday's regular city council meeting will begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1015 Cultural Park Blvd.
