LCSO investigating Lehigh death

July 24, 2019
By CHUCK BALLARO ( , Lehigh Acres Citizen

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is continuing its investigation into the circumstances that led to a death and two injuries in the area of 5583 Lee Street Sunday during what officials say was a large party.

Deputies answering a shots-fired call found one person dead and two others with non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

Russell Park, LCSO spokesperson, said they received a call at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning of shots fired in an industrial area in Lehigh Acres.

Deputies arrived on scene to find between 200 and 300 people at the party. That is also where they found the deceased and the two other victims, Park said.

According to news reports, a flyer on Facebook told of a mixtape release party at the same location. That party was supposed to be at Fly Lounge in Fort Myers, but it had closed, with the new location posted Friday.

A video taken on a cell phone and posted online shows the bedlam in the wake of the shooting. The woman describing what was happening said that two of the victims were women.

"They were pumping this girl in the chest. I don't know this girl. Somebody came through here shooting and two girls got hit. You have to pray because she might not make it," she said, adding.... "The other one was shot in the leg. Too much."

The woman later said one victim had been shot in the head and that LCSO was working on her "for 10 to 15 minutes."

The woman recording the video eventually breaks down off camera, saying "Jesus, Jesus," repeatedly as someone is seen being taken away on a stretcher.

The names of the victims had not been released nor had any suspects been arrested in connection to the shooting by press time.

This story will be updated online at when additional information is available.

There is no immediate threat to the public, Park said.
