Fraud by elected officials

January 30, 2019

To the editor:

Is it any wonder why elected officials have lost our respect and admiration? Neither esteem or appreciation are virtues that are afforded automatically. They both come about when an individual, no matter his title, demonstrates absolute morality. That's right - no cheating, no deceit, no trickery, and certainly no dishonesty.

And there should be no pass for political wanna-bees. In this case we're talking about fraud - deliberate deception in order to secure a particular gain. Specifically, while campaigning, a number of Democrat hopefuls for the House of Representatives promised that they would not vote for Nancy Pelosi to be speaker if they won their election. The voters listened and made their selection based on the candidate's pledge. And so it was: They won and when it came to vote for the speaker they voted yes for Pelosi. It was a shameful display by dishonest politicians.

This kind of trickery is absolute fraud and the perpetrators should be disqualified and arrested! Saying "Well, that's politics" is not an excuse for immorality.
