Help celebrate the Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce 56th anniversary this January at its Annual Awards Gala to be held at Heritage Palms Country Club.

"The Awards Gala is going to be wonderful," Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce Chairman Ed Moore said. "This is where we celebrate the Teacher of the Year for every Lehigh school. They are being nominated as we speak. We celebrate the fire and rescue and the Sheriff's Office and all the officers that take care of the trouble spots in Lehigh. We celebrate the Member of the Year, those members that have been most active in the community."

This year, the Annual Awards Gala 2019, "Hot Jazz, Cool Night," will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, at Heritage Palms Country Club, 10420 Washington Palm Way. The Black Tie Attire event will begin with a cocktail hour at 5:30 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. dinner. The program will start at 8 p.m.

"It helps bring the community business owners, volunteers and service workers together. It's one of the best events held in Lehigh for that type of community," Moore said.

Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased by visiting www.lehighacreschamber.org/awards-gala1, or by calling the Chamber office at (239) 369-3322. Opportunities to sponsor an entire table for 10 people is also available.

Tickets must be purchased by Jan. 18.

The Gala will feature something new this year, entertainment by the East Lee County High School Theatre Department and Lehigh Senior High School Center for the Arts Vocal Department.

"I am very much in education and supporting our schools. This year instead of hiring a professional artist to come in, we decided to help fund two of the schools. I wanted to give a highlight to the talent here in Lehigh," Moore said. "We are very excited about that and so are they."

In addition, a DJ was hired to play music for dancing, he said, so anyone who wants to party a little longer will have the opportunity to do so. Clay Miller with NBC-2 will be the emcee for the event.

A silent auction will be among the activities for attendees to bid on, which feature both big and small items.

"We will have a photo booth, so you can get your picture taken and download it online," Moore said.

There will be an introduction to the new board members during the gala, due to the members taking over in January.

"We are going to have some of our political leaders there as well, they have already signed up and are committed," he said. "We have a number of new businesses that have signed up this year, so I know they will be there as well."
