Cecil Pendergrass easily won his re-election bid for the District 2 seat on the Lee County Board of County Commis-sioners Tuesday night.

Pendergrass, a Republican, defeated Bill Taylor, who ran with no party affiliation, with 68.82 percent of the vote.

"I look forward to serving Lee County for the next four years as I have the last four," Pendergrass said. "I look forward to working with the mayors and different organizations around Lee County, to lead and make improvements any way we can."

Pendergrass had nearly 100,000 more votes than Taylor; 182,500 to Taylor's 82,666.

"The voters sent a crystal clear message that they like the direction that the county is heading in," Pendergrass said. "I look forward to leading the charge on behalf of Lee County."

Pendergrass was first elected in 2012.

District 2 encompasses most of Fort Myers and parts of east Lee County.

Lee County commissioners must live in the district they represent but are elected by voters countywide.

Election results are not official until certified.
