Lehigh Community Service is now accepting registration for the annual Thanksgiving dinners provided for residents.

Lehigh Community Services Executive Director Carolyn Peplow said they have a partnership with New Life Assembly, Lehigh Regional Medical and the Lehigh Moose Lodge for the distribution of Thanksgiving meals. Lehigh Community Services will take care of all the registrations, while their partners take care of distribution for those who have registered.

"We put the bag of groceries together with all the fixings for dinner and a gift card to get a turkey, or a ham," she said.

Registration for the Thanksgiving dinner began Monday, Oct. 22, and runs through Friday, Nov. 9.

"We are right at 200 registrations right now and we started yesterday," Peplow said last Tuesday. "Four hundred families is what we plan on registering for this year."

Last year Lehigh Community Services registered close to 300 families.

To register, individuals have to live in Lehigh and show their photo ID and proof of a Lehigh address.

"They can register any day of the week, Monday through Friday, from 9 to 11 a.m. or from 1 to 4 p.m.," Peplow said.

The last distribution for the Thanksgiving dinners will be held on Nov. 17, to make sure they receive the food a week prior to the holiday.
