Five Star Stables, nestled on 40 acres in Lehigh Acres, offers boarding opportunities, as well as trail rides, horse camps, riding lessons and birthday parties for horse enthusiasts and those wanting to learn more.

Robin Provent, an employee at Five Star Stables, said it is a full boarding facility that is surrounded by another 400 acres.

"It's nice because it's not that built up out here," she said.

Youths have the opportunity to register for July Horse Camps where they will have an opportunity to ride horses, as well as learn about the beautiful animal.

All of the guided trail rides are by appointment only and are offered every day, but Wednesday and Sunday. Provent said they have 30-minute, one hour, 90-minute, two hours and three hour options for the trail rides. The various trails include the Outback Trail, Outback Journey Trail, Hogsback Trail, Lakeside Trail and the Five Star Trail ranging from $40 to $125.

She said the 30-minute ride is for the unexperienced. This ride is led by a guide on a lead line.

Before individuals go out on the trail ride, Provent said they ask how the rider is feeling and if they are afraid to determine which horse best fits their need. The owner has 15 horses that are used for the trail rides.

Instruction is provided before the ride and individuals ride in an arena before they head off on the trails.

Provent said the guided tours are for those who "just want to be on a horse, go out and relax and be out in nature."

"Each time you have a fun, new experience," she said of the trail rides. "There are foxes, wild hogs, deer, a bobcat, owls and turtles out by some of the lakes and a gator."

Those interested are encouraged to call, (239) 337-7827, and book their desired day.

"During the week it's easier. Saturday it's a bit busier," Provent said.

Another popular event is Five Star Stables Moonlight Ride. It's offered once a month when the best moon is expected. Provent said it is $99 a person and includes a two and a half hour ride that concludes with a bon fire, smores and everyone sitting around enjoying themselves.

"Those have been booking up pretty fast. People keep coming back for that one," she said.

Five Star Stables also offers Western and English riding lessons. She said they offer lessons for those who have never rode before to advanced riders.

In addition, Five Star Stables also offers Horse Camps to enhance the bond between an individual and their horse.

The July Horse Camps are July 16 through July 20 for ages 10-18 and all ages from July 30 through Aug. 3. A camp for 5- 9-year-olds was set for July 9 through July 13 .

"That's how my daughter started three years ago. Now we are here and we board two horses. She is 11 and helps out here. She does barrel races," Provent said.

The last week of June they finished an English camp where the girls were learning how to jump with their horses.

The camps are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"It's just so much fun," Provent said of the horseback riding, crafts and water games when it's hot. "They will learn how to take care of them - groom them, bathe them, clean their feet, the saddle part and what they eat. We are teaching it to the kids."

The camps are $325 for ages 5 to 9 and $300 for ages 10 to 18.

Five Star Stables also offers two-, three- and five-hour birthday parties.

"Each birthday party is individualized," Provent said, which includes such activities as games, teaching them about a horse and trail riding.

The five-hour birthday party includes a cookout with hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza.

As far as boarding, individuals have the option of stall boarding, or pasture boarding. Currently there are 38 horses boarded at Five Star Stables and more room for others interested in having their horses stay there.
