By MELISSA BILL (news@breezenewspapers.com) , Lehigh Acres Citizen

On June 20, the Lehigh Acres Municipal District will host a Community Celebration as part one in a mini-series of community events at the LA-MSID District headquarters located at 601 East County Lane, Lehigh Acres.

The municipal district is celebrating 60 years of service to the community. To mark this milestone and the agency's dedication to the community, it is calling upon local agencies and organizations to help share the rich history, current efforts and future goals for the community.

According to Chair-man of the Board David Deetscreek, this will be a forum where local agencies, organizations and businesses can speak about what they do and their roles within the community.

Throughout the day, the district will take a brief look at its history in the community, as well as current and future programs and services. Lee County Commissioner Frank Mann will also provide a lunch-and-learn presentation of the Lehigh Acres community.

Local area non-profits, civic groups and government agencies are invited to participate in the informational part of the program agenda, and the event is open for anyone who would like to attend. The Community Celebration event begins at 11 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m., lunch is provided and RSVP's are preferred.

Deetscreek will provide an orientation for non-profits, civic groups and government agencies who would like to participate in the mini-series.

Those agencies expressing interest at the June 20 event will be invited back for the second part of the mini-series scheduled for Wednesday, July 25.

The Civic and Community Day is the second part of the summer mini-series. This day-long event will welcome representatives from community organizations who will participate in the speaker series to share their valued history and continued work within Lehigh Acres. At the end of the presentations, there will be a moderator discussion on the future of Lehigh Acres.

Lehigh Acres MISD is a multi-county, multifaceted special district agency that oversees local roads and bridges; a stormwater management system comprised of lakes, canals, and complex monitoring equipment; parks and passive recreation and other community projects.

It's the goal of the board of commissioners to guide the agency in a direction best suited to help the communities in which it serves, making it the vehicle for the future of Lehigh Acres.

Those wishing to participate or attend in the Community Celebration Wednesday, June 20, should RSVP to 239-368-0044 or cbrantley@la-msid.com by June 14. The event will be held at the LA-MSID offices, 601 East County Lane, Lehigh Acres, 33936.
