A Lehigh Acres teen, accused of threatening a school shooting in Alabama, was taken into custody here in Lee County Tuesday.

Anthony Kessler, 19, of 1509 Sara Ave. S., "made terrorist threats to conduct a shooting at a Fort Payne, Alabama school," a release from the Lee County Sheriff's Office states.

The arrest on an out-of-state fugitive from justice warrant issued out of DeKalb County was made in unison with the Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Kessler was taken into custody at a restaurant on Palm Beach Boulevard in Fort Myers where he was employed, and then booked into the Lee County jail.

"We take every threat seriously," said Eric W. Sporre, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Tampa Division, in a prepared statement. "The FBI Tampa Field Office continues to work with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners in assessing any and all threats. As always, we will work with our law enforcement partners to gather, share and act upon threat information as it comes to our attention."

The Lee County Sheriff's Office provided a similar statement.

"We have been, and continue to be, committed to ensuring a safe environment for our children and for our residents," said Undersheriff Carmine Marceno. "In addition to our own security operations, we are committed to work closely with any and all federal and state agencies in need of our assistance."
