Lee County operations to adjust its schedules during holidays
Most Lee County administrative operations will be closed Dec. 22 and Dec. 25 in observance of Christmas, as well as on Dec. 29 and Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday.
The adjustments include:
Solid Waste
Solid Waste offices and the Topaz Court Solid Waste Annex will be closed Dec. 22 and Dec. 25. The Resource Recovery Facility in Buckingham will be closed Dec. 25, but open regular hours Dec. 22-23.

All garbage, recycling and yard waste collections in unincorporated Lee County, the city of Bonita Springs and the Town of Fort Myers Beach will take place one day after the regularly scheduled collection day for the entire week beginning Dec. 26. This means that if the regular collection day is Monday, the collection truck will pick up that material on Tuesday. Tuesday’s regularly scheduled pickups will occur on Wednesday and so on, the rest of the week through Dec. 30.
Also, on Jan. 1 there will not be any regular collection; if the regular collection day is Monday, the collection truck will pick up that material on Tuesday. Tuesday’s regularly scheduled pickups will occur on Wednesday and so on, the rest of the week through Jan. 6.
Regular collections resume Jan. 8.
Lee County Utilities
– Dec. 22-25: Customer Service Center will be closed
– Dec. 29 to Jan. 1: Customer Service Center will be closed
LeeTran
LeeTran services will end at about 7 p.m. Dec. 24 and resume Dec. 26.
There will be no service on Jan. 1.
Parks & Recreation
– Dec. 24-25: Beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will be open; the administration office will be closed Dec. 22 and Dec. 25, resuming normal hours Dec. 26
Pools are closed Dec. 23-26, resuming normal operating hours Dec. 27.
– Dec. 31 to Jan. 1: Beaches, boat ramps, parks and preserves will be open; the administration office will be closed Dec. 29 and Jan. 1, resuming normal hours Jan. 2
Pools are closed Dec. 30 to Jan. 2, resuming normal operating hours Jan. 3.
The county’s four recreation centers – North Fort Myers, Wa-Ke Hatchee, Veterans and Estero – will be closed from Dec. 23 to Jan. 7. The closures are due to scheduled annual maintenance.
All centers will re-open Jan. 8.
Library System
– Dec. 23-25: All branches closed; administration closed Dec. 22-25
– Dec. 30 to Jan. 1: All branches closed; admin closed Dec. 29 and Jan. 1
LCDAS
– Dec. 23: Lost & Found Pet Center and Pet Adoption Center, at 5600 Banner Drive, Fort Myers, closed.; normal hours resume Dec. 26
– Dec. 30: Lost & Found Pet Center and the Pet Adoption Center will be closed; normal hours resume Jan. 2
