According to Welch, it is not meant to be a heavy-handed agenda. It is an informal event where officials and the public can meet and where individuals have an opportunity to ask questions.

In past years, the reception has drawn from 75 to 80 attendees from the community.

Welch noted that the event will also serve as a way to show appreciation for elected officials, many who aided Lehigh and the area in the preparation for and post recovery efforts of Hurricane Irma.

"We just feel this is a nice way for everyone to end the year," he said.

One of the highlights of the reception will be an award presentation. The MSID will recognize Charlotte Rae Nicely, the executive director of Lehigh Community Services, with a special award.

"She has done some amazing work in the community and was a vital source after the hurricane," Welch said. "The district wants to present her with this award for all of her efforts."

Light refreshments will be provided.

The LA-MSID headquarters is at 601 East County Lane.
