Parkinson’s functional screening session Nov. 18

By Staff | Nov 8, 2017

Lee Health is holding a community resource and functional screening session for people who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s on Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Outpatient Rehabilitation at City Center, at 3114 Cleveland Ave., Fort Myers.

“The Parkinson’s Clinic gives a person with Parkinson’s and their loved ones the opportunity to discuss concerns related to changes in function”, Nathalie Grondin, with the Lee Health Parkinson’s Functional Screening Clinic, said.

All participants are screened by licensed therapists trained to detect physical deficits, which may benefit from therapy intervention.

Participants are also provided with a list of available resources including seminars, group exercise classes and support group meetings throughout Lee County.

Each participant can expect to visit with a physical therapist to address mobility concerns, an occupational therapist to address self-care activities and home management, as well as a speech language pathologist to discuss communication and swallowing concerns.

Resources related to education, support group, exercise group and identification of individualized therapy needs will be provided and a report of recommendations will be sent to the individual’s health care professional of choice.

Space is limited, so call to make a reservation at 239-343-4960.
