LCDAS reduces adoption fees for shelter pet vets

By Staff | Nov 8, 2017

In honor of Veterans Day, Lee County Domestic Animal Services is offering two adoption specials this month, including reduced adoption fees of $40 for shelter pet vets.

All animals available for adoption will be included in the promotion through Nov. 30.

In addition, Animal Services will celebrate Veterans Day on Nov. 11 with free adoptions for all veterans, with an approved adoption application; proof of military service is required. A free pet food pantry will be available for anyone serving in the military.

The Calendar Girls will start the celebration with a performance at 10:30 a.m. They use dance and entertainment to raise awareness for Paws for Patriots, a program that is part of the Southeastern Guide Dog School of Palmetto, which trains guide dogs for visually impaired veterans.

Movers for Mutts – Two Men and a Truck will donate adoption goodie baskets for the first 20 adoptions.

Visit www.leelostpets.com to see pets available for adoption.

The adoption center is open 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday throughSaturday.
