A debris cleanup project has begun on the Caloosahatchee River, which may delay boaters at the Lee County Parks and Recreation Department's Alva Boat Ramp.

A contractor working for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection is clearing debris, including trees and brush, produced by Hurricane Irma. The project may extend through November.

During this time, boaters using the Alva Boat Ramp may experience delays.
