Auditions available for local seniors to be featured in online project

October 20, 2017
Special to THE CITIZEN ( , Lehigh Acres Citizen

Seniors in Lehigh Acres have a chance to share a personal story of theirs with the world.

Called "These Eyes Have Seen," a social media initiative celebrates seniors by documenting their stories to provide joy, inspiration and guidance to people everywhere. The stories are accompanied by photographs that capture not only the essence of the story itself, but of the storytellers themselves.

Sunshine Retirement Living, which manages Lehigh's Fountain Crest Retirement Community, launched the project in 2015. The initiative includes stories from seniors around the United States, with plans to continually grow to showcase hundreds of seniors across the country in coming years.

The seniors profiled offer insights into the experiences that impacted them most, how they reflect on their greatest happiness or regret, and words of wisdom on what it means to lead a well-lived life.

On Nov. 1, auditions for the project will be held at 10 a.m. at Fountain Crest. Local seniors will be interviewed in an effort to find the one story of significance that speaks to both young and old. Later in the month, the winner will be professionally photographed for their featured position in the project.

"These Eyes Have Seen has become a passion project for us, allowing us to create a living history channel that celebrates seniors everywhere," Luis Serrano, chief executive officer of Sunshine Retirement Living, said. "Filled with joy, courage, inner strength and optimism, we hope these diverse and fascinating histories inspire everyone, young and old."
