Libraries to receive Goodwill donations for annual campaign

Lee County is kicking off the start of its 2017 United Way campaign by collaborating with Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida for Good to Go.

The drive-up, drop-off and drive-away donation event will take place on Aug. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at five library locations. The event is open to the public, and donations from all are welcome.

Donations of new or gently-used clothing and household goods can be dropped off in the Goodwill bins at the following branches:

- East County Regional Library, at 881 Gunnery Road N.

- Fort Myers Regional Library, at 2450 First St., Fort Myers

- Lakes Regional Library, at 15290 Bass Road, Fort Myers

- Northwest Regional Library, at 519 Chiquita Blvd. N., Cape Coral

- South County Regional Library, at 21100 Three Oaks Parkway, Estero

Some items will not be taken, including mattresses, box springs and televisions.

Bins will be stationed in parking lots at the sites in Lehigh the Cape, Estero and south Fort Myers.

At the downtown Fort Myers library, Goodwill staff will be at the drop-off point at Richmond Street. The site will also provide a secure document drop-off bin for those who need documents shredded.

The one-day event is part of Lee County's commitment to the United Way and its partnering agencies. The donations go toward helping veterans and residents of Lee County with economic disadvantages.
