The top 40 teams from around the country qualified for the JLAB finals from over 1,200 teams that began the competition in November.

Finalists received an all-expense paid trip to the nation's capital to participate in the face-to-face portion of the competition.

In addition to the competition, the trip included a meeting with Rep. Francis Rooney and tours of the Pentagon and the Smithsonian Museum and visits to memorials along the National Mall.

Locally, Mariner High School's team also placed at the national competition, coming in ninth.
