Celebrating the Fourth: Lazy Springs to offer fireworks, day in the park

June 28, 2017
By ERIC DeVAUX (news@breezenewspapers.com) , Lehigh Acres Citizen

Since Miramar is not having its fireworks show this year, Lazy Springs Recreational Park is hoping to capture that moment and provide fireworks for area residents.

"There's no Miramar fireworks this year," said James Ivey, partial owner of Lazy Springs. "They're telling us we're going to be busy. You don't know until they show up,"

Ivey hopes to attract guests with the fourth annual fireworks show being presented on a weekday.

"This is the first year we've done it during the week," Ivey said. "We normally do it on Saturday. We're trying it on the Fourth, which is not a weekend."

He hopes that it could have the same results as last year.

"It was a good turnout last year," Ivey said.

Lazy Springs Recreational Park will open its gates at 3 p.m. on July 4. The fireworks will start at sundown, between 8:30 and 9 p.m., and should last 15 to 30 minutes.

"We move to the edge of the lake and then we have the fireworks go off on the other side of the lake," Ivey said.

Admission is $10, but children ages 9 and younger get in for free.

There are plenty of things to do at Lazy Springs Recreational Park while waiting for the fireworks to begin.

"People can come out and picnic," Ivey said. "They can ride their 4-wheelers and swim, and rope swing and zip line in the lakes."

"The only thing we ask is no glass," Ivey said.

The park is at 9591 SR-82, Lehigh Acres.
