Democratic Club to meet

The Lehigh Democratic Club will meet on May 4 at 7 p.m. at the Veterans Park Recreation Center, at 55 S. Homestead Road.

Guest speaker Allison Lund, coordinator for Lee County, will talk about "Indivisible."

Best Dressed Chihuahua Contest taking entries

The Best Dressed Chihuahua Contest will take place on May 6 at 2:30 pm. at the Fleamasters Fleamarket, at 413 Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Fort Myers.

There will be prizes, ribbons and giveaways.

A pet photo booth will be set up from 1 to 2:30 p.m.

Cost is $10 per dog to register.

Proceeds will benefit the Gulf Coast Humane Society.

Clerk of Court schedules events

The Lee County Clerk of Court will host a seminar, called "The Value of Searching Public Records and Online Services," on May 5 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Cape Coral Library, at 921 S.W. 39 Terrace, Cape Coral.

Reservations are not required; seating is first-come, first-seated.

The office will also host Special Passport Days at the Lee County Clerk of Court, Recording Office, 2115 Second St., Second Floor, Fort Myers, on:

- May 15-19 from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

- May 20 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

LCSO to hold seminars

The Lee County Sheriff's Office will host a series of educational seminars at the United Healthcare Medicare Store, at 6900 Daniels Parkway, Unit 23-C, Fort Myers.

The following dates and topics are planned:

- May 30: Aviation - How criminals are found from the air

- June 6: Active Shooter for the Community - What should you do?

- June 27: Agriculture Unit - How do they protect the animals?

Each session will begin at 10 a.m. and last about an hour.

General Woman's Club to award scholarships

The General Woman's Club of Lehigh Acres will hold its final meeting of the season on May 19 at noon in Sweatlock Hall at the Faith Lutheran Church, at 705 E. Leeland Heights Blvd.

The club will award six scholarships, as well as install the newly-elected officers for 2017-18.

There will also be a potluck.

Casino Night planned

The Greater Lehigh Acres Chamber of Commerce will host Casino Night on June 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seminole Casino & Hotel Immokalee, at 506 South First St., Immokalee.

Free with RSVP; without RSVP it is $10 at the door.

The Business Happy Hour will include appetizers, two free drinks and dessert.

There will be drawings for prizes donated by area businesses; bring your business card to be entered into the big raffle drawing.

Round-trip transportation available for $15 per person; leave the chamber at 5:15 p.m. and return to the chamber at 10 p.m. Deadline to register for round-trip transportation is June 22.

Community pool offers variety of classes

The Lehigh Acres Community Pool, at 1400 W. Fifth St., is heated and open year-round.

A range of swim lesson skill levels are offered, including adult beginners; all taught by American Red Cross Certified instructors.

Eight classes for $50.

Commit to get fit with aqua aerobics. Choose from a fast-paced workout at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday or the ultra-low impact class at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and Friday. Classes are 45 minutes long in chest deep water.

Lifeguards-on-duty. Lap swimmers welcome.

Youth choir rehearsing

The Lehigh Children's Choir rehearses from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays at Cayuga Music Studio, at 1100 Homestead Road.

Concert band seeks members

The Lehigh Concert Band is always accepting new musicians who play at a senior high school, college level or above.

The band also offers a scholarship program to encourage young players to join.

Plant, tree sale set

A plant sale will be held on the last Wednesday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon at Lakes Regional Park, at 7330 Gladiolus Drive, Fort Myers.

The selection includes succulents, small trees, native plants, herbs, annuals, bromeliads, rose bushes and more.

Master Gardeners will be available to answer any questions.

There is a $1 per hour parking fee, with a maximum of $5.
