Fils serving on combat ship

A 2008 Riverdale High School graduate is serving in the U.S. Navy to support one of the U.S. combat ships.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Luc-Rikardo Fils, of Fort Myers, is a yeoman and is assigned to Commander, LCS Squadron One that support the mission of the littoral combat ships based in San Diego.

A Navy yeoman is responsible for the administrative staff and serves as the assistant to the public affairs officer for the LCS community.

Following an 18-month training pipeline, sailors have to qualify on a simulator that is nearly identical to the ship.
