A Lehigh Acres driver remains hospitalized following a single-vehicle accident last week.

Sean David Constant, 23, was listed in critical condition as of today at Lee Memorial Hospital, where he was taken after the crash at Bell Boulevard South and Spaulding Street East, officials reported.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Constant was driving a Toyota Camry south on Bell on March 9 when he entered a slight curve in the road near the intersection of Spaulding at 2:25 a.m. The vehicle entered the west shoulder of the roadway, driving over cables secured to an electrical box.

It continued along the west shoulder, traveling over shrubs as it began to rotate and overturn.

The FHP reported that the vehicle struck and rotated around a tree, coming to a final stop upright.

Constant sustained critical injuries in the accident and was transported to the hospital.

The crash is alcohol related and charges are pending, according to the FHP.
