Camp registration begins at Lee County Parks & Recreation

By Staff | Mar 8, 2017

Registration started on Feb. 27 for Lee County Parks & Recreation Summer Camp, which is expected to draw thousands of youngsters to programs, outings and activities at the department’s traditional camps, teen camps and specialty camps.

Parents are encouraged to sign up early – each year the allotted spaces at Wa-Ke Hatchee, Lakes Regional Park and Estero Recreation Center fill up well before school ends. Registration for swimming lessons and other aquatics programs begins April 4.

Camp runs eight weeks – from June 5 through July 28. Club Rec will begin on the afternoon of the first day of school, on Aug. 10.

– If you plan to register for camp at one of the four mega-recreation centers – Wa-Ke Hatchee, Estero, North Fort Myers or Veterans Park – you need to obtain a family membership first.

– You need to have a household account at: www.LeeParks.org to register online. Call recreation centers in advance to confirm your user name and password.

Campers receive a specially designed Lee County Parks & Recreation T-shirt.

Camp sites will participate in countywide initiatives, such as service learning projects, fitness and wellness programs, and National Park and Recreation Month.

The 2017 theme for the National Recreation and Park Association is “Get Your Play On” and encourages the importance of play for all ages.
