"It's going to be a fabulous event," Charlotte Rae Nicely, the executive director of Lehigh Community Services, said of Lobster Fest.

Its big fundraiser, the 6th annual event will be held on March 4 in the banquet room of the Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Lehigh, at 1320 Business Way.

"Dress is casual and the food is going to be delicious. It's being prepared by a man we call Uncle Jim Brownrig," she said. "He's the best and he is well known for his work."

According to Nicely, Lobster Fest is a sell-out affair and those who want to attend should not wait to get their tickets.

The tickets are $60 each or, if reserved in advance, to-go orders are $50.

"No tickets will be sold at the door because of limited seating in the large banquet room," she said. "It's reservations only."

"We have to know ahead of time how many lobsters and other items to get for the event," Nicely said.

She added that the menu is hefty and nobody will leave empty.

The menu will consist of a pound and a quarter of Maine lobster, sirloin steak or a half chicken.

With it comes choices of creamy clam chowder, Maine steamed clams, Maine mussels, baby red potatoes, corn on the cob, hard boiled eggs, cole slaw, rolls and condiments.

For dessert, the offering is strawberry shortcake.

"Uncle Jim Brownrig calls it his New England Lobster Bake," Nicely said. "And you can usually watch him prepare the lobsters."

While there are already committed sponsorships, more are always welcome, she noted.

Businesses, clubs and organizations can be a sponsor and get tickets included. Sponsorships range from $250 to $1,500, with the latter including 10 tickets and a banner displayed with "roses for the ladies" - it is referred to as the "Maine" event sponsorship.

A "Lobster" sponsorship for $1,000 includes eight tickets and a banner display. A "Clam" sponsorship of $600 will include eight tickets, and a "Mussel" sponsorship of $250 will include two tickets and recognition at the event.

Nicely said the cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m., with dinner at 7 p.m. There will be a cash bar.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will help Lehigh Community Services to support the work it does in the community.

Nicely said it is probably the main fundraiser for the agency.
