Patients can have health information at fingertips

September 24, 2014
By JOANIE JEANNETTE , Lehigh Acres Citizen

Lehigh Regional is always trying to make connections with our community. One of the ways we are doing that is by developing a "Patient Portal." What is this? It is a way that patients can access their own health record at home via their computer. It is also referred to as "My Health Home Patient Portal." It is available at this time for all patients who are admitted to Lehigh Regional Medical Center.

Here's how it works: When a patient is admitted to Lehigh Regional Medical Center they are asked for information like their address, emergency phone numbers and next of kin. In addition we will be asking for an email address. When this is submitted, the patient will receive an email that will allow them to register online for the site. When they are registered they will be able to get access to their own private health information. This site is protected with their password and is only accessible by the patient. This allows the patient to view his/her health record at any time after they are registered on the site.

What if they don't have an email address: They can give a family member's email at registration if they wish to do that. Or, we would be happy to assist the patient with setting up an email account. What is important to remember is that they have to register or give permission to someone else to register in order to view the information.

This is a great way to keep up with your medical record at all times. We are continually trying to connect with the community and this is just one of the latest examples of how we are accomplishing that. Please visit our website at: for more information. And as always, we are dedicated to your good health.

Joanie Jeannette is the chief executive officer for Lehigh Regional Medical Center.
