Ask the Pastor

September 6, 2017 - Michael Porzio

Has anyone ever asked you that question or perhaps you’ve asked it yourself, “Are you saved?” 1Ti 1:15 KJV - This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

1Ti 1:16 KJV - Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. This is truly the only words you can take to the bank…which ALL should accept, Jesus came to SAVE sinners…and I am the absolute worst of them all. This is the very purpose that I received God’s MERCY, that others would see God had patience with the worst sinner to establish the pattern for others to follow for eternal life.

This is a letter of encouragement from the apostle Paul to Timothy, he’s giving him the charge to help pastor the church at Ephesus. Now take notice that Paul is calling this the FAITHFUL saying that is worthy for ALL to accept. “Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.” How are we saved? How is anyone saved?? Someone must save us when we cannot save ourselves.

Jesus came to SAVE sinners, you and me. It really isn’t a question of whether you’re saved or not, either the blood of Calvary saved us or it didn’t? The apostle Paul is not asking any questions, rather, he is declaring a faithful saying that is worthy for all to accept.

Salvation is never a “question” with God, it is a “faithful saying” and it shouldn’t be a question for us either, none of us can earn salvation…it is simply a gift from God based on His love for us
